Dr. Oetker has been a responsible and reliable employer since it was founded almost 130 years ago.
We consider creating and maintaining jobs to be an important social mandate. Security and continuity as well as diverse career and development opportunities are the basis of our personnel policy. This attitude is confirmed by the high level of loyalty of our employees: On average, they have worked for Dr. Oetker for 14 years at the German locations.
With its long tradition and history, the family company is characterized by a special corporate culture. Security, continuity, trust, mutual respect, reliability and the high level of appreciation of each individual are important cornerstones here. Equal opportunities and the long-term qualification of our employees are elementary prerequisites for allowing employees to develop their performance in a trusting climate – thereby helping to shape the future of the company. The company lives an “open door culture” in which everyone's opinion is always welcome. Collaboration within the teams is characterized by a high degree of openness and collegial cooperation.
Our culture of values strengthens the satisfaction of all employees. We regularly conduct employee surveys in which we always achieve very good satisfaction ratings. In this way, we continuously receive valuable suggestions for changes. The results enable us to derive measures that contribute to creating an even better working environment, thereby further increasing the satisfaction and commitment of each individual. Further central instruments are the annual employee appraisals, during which superiors and employees openly discuss the individual work situation and jointly agree on goals and perspectives.
The corporate culture is of course constantly evolving in times of digital transformation and social change. Agile learning and working methods influence cooperation in new ways. Preserving our essential values on the one hand
, and developing them further on the other is an important concern and a challenge at the same time.
Cross-location idea management plays an important role in Dr. Oetker's employee-oriented corporate culture, which has existed as a company suggestion scheme since 1978 and is open to all employees: Anyone can point out potential for improvement in all areas of the company and develop solutions, thereby actively and sustainably shaping the future of the company. Many ideas are put into practice while selected ones receive the Idea of the Month Award. In this manner, employees at our plants have already discovered significant ways to make work easier or use raw materials more sparingly.
In addition to the classic idea program, we are also breaking new ground in terms of generating ideas with the implementation of agile learning and working methods. We are moreover testing methods such as crowd funding in order to gain new ideas and jointly drive them towards success.
It is our employees who are behind the success of Dr. Oetker. Our way of working is characterized by passion, commitment and the endeavor to do the best for our consumers: After all, "Quality Is the Best Recipe".
As an international company we offer numerous entry opportunities for young professionals as well as for specialists and managers. When looking for new employees we place great value on dialog-oriented and personal communication with potential employees from the outset. Our main concern is to attract the candidates who are best suited for the company and the respective area of responsibility. In order to inspire young talents for our company at an early stage we regularly hold lectures, application training courses and workshops and cooperate with schools and universities. It is just as important to continuously develop and retain employees after they have joined our company. To this end, we have been supporting the culture of lifelong learning for many years and rely on the continuous development of our employees with a large number of seminars and workshops. The various programs and events that take place for this purpose aim to support our employees in their individual phases of life and to promote them according to their qualifications, their inclinations and their individual abilities.
Students and university graduates are warmly invited to apply for the Oetker Group's Talent Days, in which Dr. Oetker is actively involved. This annual event offers interested parties the opportunity to gain an insight into various areas of the company through practical workshops and to make initial professional contacts.
In addition, Dr. Oetker offers challenging internships and stays in constant contact with outstanding interns and trainees through the company's own Stay in Touch program. Key components of this program are events in which potential junior employees can take part twice a year. The aim is to find out about developments in the company and to exchange ideas about career opportunities within the Oetker Group. In addition, there is the possibility of writing theses at Dr. Oetker in many departments. With the Oetker Group's Gap Year Program, students can complete two to three internships in different industries within the group with just one successful application.
Dr. Oetker offers its employees performance-based and market-based remuneration as well as comprehensive social benefits. In this way, the company creates an important prerequisite for attracting qualified employees and retaining them in the long term. The collective agreement applies to employees at the German locations, including vacation and Christmas bonuses, continued remuneration in the event of illness and vacation entitlement.
In order to achieve a performance-related and thus fair remuneration, Dr. Oetker evaluated all non-tariff positions or positions at the German locations and assigned them to a remuneration class. With the help of a specialized advisory institute, Dr. Oetker analyzes the fairness of wages and, if necessary, derives appropriate measures for their implementation.
Almost all employees receive the same social benefits, regardless of whether they work full-time or part-time. Among other things, Dr. Oetker offers an employer-financed, contribution based pension scheme. In addition, there are regular advisory appointments for private retirement provision at individual locations.
